Forum: feature_films Subject: Re: Lulu Belle (1948) - copyright status?

No, the .gov site only has renewals for films released in 1950 or later. Renewals for earlier films are found in printed books that have been scanned and OCR'ed.

One place to find them is here at the Archive:
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Acopyrightrecords%20AND%20subject%3A%22Copyright%20Records%20%E2%80%93%20Motion%20Pictures%22

A movie had to be renewed 27 or 28 years after its release.

Be aware that the OCR'ed text is full of typographical errors. If the string search for "Lulu Belle" fails, look for "Lulu" or "Belle".
